The Power Of Visualization

What do you mean by Visualization
Visualization is the power of picturing a live, vivid scenario in your head. It can be used to recall and relive past memories but in manifestation, the power of Visualization is majorly used to imagine scenarios in your mind that you want to pull into your reality. It’s like creating a strong mental image of a future event but in the current moment.
The more you involve your senses in the process of visualization, the more you’ll benefit from it. For instance, let’s say you want to visualize a healthy body for yourself.
Now, close your eyes and imagine being the healthy version of you and see yourself in the mirror. How do you look?
Feel the confidence rising with that reflection.
Hear yourself receiving compliments from everyone around you.
Touch your hair, how do they feel? Smooth? Silky? Touch your skin. Is it well hydrated and radiating?
Imagine indulging in healthy foods like fruits and salads. How do they taste? Imagine developing a taste for them. Love the taste of it already.
What about the air? How does it smell? Does it lighten up your mood with its calm breeze?
The more you spend time in this scenario the more your subconscious will register the end goal and attract it into your reality. There’s no time limit for you to follow when it comes to visualization but I would still advise you to start with at least 5 minutes daily.
Remember, feeling is the key. The more you feel being present in the visualized inner reality of the mind’s eye, the quicker it will manifest in your outer reality.
Why is Visualization important?
Visualization is a powerful way to directly connect with our subconscious mind- the part of the mind which is responsible for our reality. When we visualize, we command our brain to focus on things that matter the most to us. This is termed as selective attention. Visualization is just a way to set parameters to make our future vision a reality.
The truth is that what you focus on and take deliberate steps toward is most likely to become a reality. What also needs to be highlighted here is that there’s no filtration to attracting scenarios. It’s a simple process where if you think positive, you will attract positive and if you think of negative things, you will attract negative scenarios.
Now, be honest, knowing that whatever you focus on will manifest, what would you choose: negative scenarios or positive ones? Let’s explore this with an example.
Let’s say that you got into an argument will your loved one and now both of you are avoiding each other, what will you do? Will you let negative, low frequency things like anger, ego and guilt rule your head or will you intentionally divert your focus to forgiving that person, understanding the argument from a fresh perspective and resolve the condition? You’ll choose to be on the positive side, right? Why? Because you know that it’s the right choice to take.
Not only will it dissolve the argument, but it will also strengthen your bond with your partner. Your instinct will be proud of you for indulging in something that made you grow into a better version of yourself. You will respect and save time! And as a bonus, you will attract more positive, similar scenarios because like attracts like.
Let’s switch your choice now. Let’s imagine that you chose the negative side and decided to not resolve the situation. Your head will automatically come up with thoughts like, “It’s not my fault, why should I apologize?”, “Why should I always bend and be the bigger person?”, “I don’t care!”, “Go to hell!”, “No matter how many days this will take, I will not talk unless I’m spoken to.” All these thoughts will only build a destructive atmosphere for you. This will just delay time, lower your frequency, make you gloomy, take away your sensibility and taint your relationship.
And guess what? The more you stay in this scenario by choice, the more you’ll attract the same in your life. The choice is super clear and right in front of you. I would say why even waste time and keep a substitute when you can choose to keep positivity as the sole choice in all situations?
Apply this understanding into Visualization and see wonders happening as Visualization is a potent technique to take this notion one step further. The moment you choose a positive scenario to visualize and do it in full sensory detail is the moment when your brain’s neuro imagery will record the future event as if it’s truly happening in the current moment. All we need to do is bring this into our routine and follow it like a way of living and see things work in our favor- every single time, without fail!
Benefits of Visualization
~ Visualization increases confidence: When you picture yourself in a happy scenario, you naturally feel positive feelings flow through you with ease and comfort. It increases your confidence in building strength to achieve success in whatever you believe in.
~ Prepares you for ultimate success: The power of Visualization lies in the fact that it can instantly lift your spirit. By imagining every scenario going well in your life, you train your mind to welcome success and this success is not temporary. Once you start believing in the positives, all good things will come and stay in your life permanently. Your mind will get prepared to welcome them with ease in real life.
~ Can be applied to any area of life: Visualization can be applied easily to any area of life; it can be used to attract perfect health, healing, career, money, luxury, comfort, cordial situations, happy relationships and even self-growth. As long as your intention is pure, you can use Visualization anywhere for anything.
Steps to follow for Visualization
~Decide what you want: Start with recognizing what you want. Pick one wish at a time. Let’s say you have a job interview next week so choose that to focus on or if you’re not feeling well then focus on healing your health first.
~ Choose a quiet environment: It’s most favorable for you to perform your visualization in a quiet environment as the calm setting will only add to your visualization process and help you focus better.
~ Picture the scene as vividly as possible: Now picture the scene as vibrantly as possible. The more you involve your senses while visualizing, the more you will benefit from it. Visualize the room where you’re being interviewed. How many people are there? Is there a window in the room? What questions are they asking you? Are you confidently answering everything?
Imagine being happy and aware of all that is being asked. If you’re focusing on healing your health, then visualize a ‘happy you’ standing in a garden enjoying nature, smiling, feeling strong. Hear the compliments you’re getting. Feel the joy within!
~ Get into the details: Once you set the mood, dive deeper into the scene. See the clothes that you are wearing, which shoes did you select? How did you reach the office? How does being in the office environment feel? Are the people interviewing humble? Visualize speaking the key points while answering the interviewer, feel the confidence in your body language, feel the eye contact and hand gestures.
Avoid focusing on anything negative and if while visualizing, you feel you’re getting nervous about something then switch it by feeling confident and comfortable in your skin. For health, see the surrounding you are in- what all can you notice around you? Who else is with you? What are you eating? What are you discussing? The more details you’ll add, the happier the Visualization will be and the quicker the results will show in your reality.
~ Link your emotions to the outcome: Attaching your emotions to your visualization is like adding flavor to your food. Without flavor, you won’t enjoy your food fully. Similarly, without emotions you won’t be able to feel your Visualization completely. To evade this, you need to link your emotions to every detail. Feel the happiness when you’re getting ready; feel the self-assurance while answering. Feel the comfort in your body- the ease in every movement. Just feel it with full intensity because when you do so you release happy hormones in your body which help in building a strong impact on your mind.
~ Make it a daily ritual: Take action and make it an everyday habit to visualize daily by keeping some time off for it. Even if you do it for five minutes, it will work for you because the aim is to prepare the mind to believe that whatever you’re imagining is actually the truth. For that to happen, a lot of practice is required. The more you practice, the stronger your vision becomes and the higher are the chances to attract it because your mind and body are used to receiving and living the desired scenario daily.
If your interview is next week, you must practice visualization daily. The best time to do it is right after you wake up and just before you sleep as in both of these times, the mind is super relaxed and the subconscious opens its doors to receive whatever you send towards it.
Use this time wisely to train your mind for a successful outcome. It won’t even come as a surprise to you that when you actually go for the interview, you will experience similar or exact details happening as whatever you visualized prepared you to already live that reality and it was meant to manifest!
~ Paste pictures and affirmations that match to your Visualization: As a reminder for your brain to stay in the receiving mode, you can stick affirmations and pictures regarding your wish around your house so that when you’re done doing your daily visualization, seeing these small reminders again and again throughout the day will only prompt your mind to strengthen your attention to what you want to manifest.
Success Stories
Visualization always works for those who follow it diligently. Let me share a few names of those who follow and have gained from Visualization.
- Alex Honnold– Free solo rock climber
- Michael Phelps– Competitive swimmer and winner of 28 Olympic medals
- LeBron James– NBA basketball player
- David Goggins– Former Navy Seals
- Jocko Willink– Former Navy Seals
- Greg Louganis– Multi-gold medalist Olympian diver
All these names are just a few examples of people who believe that performing mental exercise is as important as carrying a physical exercise. In fact, in the field of medicine, studies have shown how stroke victims successfully activate neuroplasticity through visualization—that’s how powerful the practice is!
A very famous Netflix series called The Queen’s Gambit deals with this theme and how the protagonist, Beth Harmon prepares herself for her Chess matches by visualizing the moves in her head a night before the real match. It is because of this unique and personal approach that within a short span of time, she manages to become a Chess prodigy.
A lot of athletes and dancers have also claimed to use the power of visualization before their actual performance. Not only does it benefit them physically but it also prepares them to live and envision the moment mentally, happily and with full confidence knowing that they will only gain from it.
4 Powerful Visualization Techniques To Master Manifestation
Apart from closing your eyes and visualizing your desire, you can also follow a few other techniques like:
1. Vision board: Creating a vision board is like preparing your mind to bring your desires into reality by giving an ‘exact’ representation of what you want. You can easily view the board and enter into each picture and visualize the scenario happening in your head. It helps to build clarity by giving vivid details to the brain.
P.S. Set aside just 15 minutes to explore our comprehensive A-to-Z guide on Vision Boards. It beautifully covers all the basics, answers your questions and helps you gain clarity about the same.
2. Guided meditation: You can effortlessly find so many free guided meditations videos on YouTube. These meditations help us to relax and calm the body by assisting us to enter into a visualized happy space. I remember indulging into a lot of guided meditation videos when I was learning Yoga, my teacher had advised all of us to hear it at least once a day to unwind the body and honestly, it did wonders for me. I used to feel so peaceful while listening to it that sometimes, I even slept while the recording was on because that’s the kind of soothing effect it creates.
My personal favorite is Yoga Nidra meditation. I recommend experiencing its magic right before you plan to sleep. I guarantee you’ll wake up feeling relaxed and refreshed the next day.
3. Affirmations: While affirmations comprise only of words, they still very much help in visualizing our desires as we don’t always need an image to focus on. For some people, focusing on a word or an affirmation proves to be more powerful.
For example, my friend finds it easier to visualize on the affirmation that she has happily and naturally lost 5 kgs rather than picturing herself working out and eating a balanced diet. This definitely doesn’t imply that she doesn’t take the said action in real life; it’s just that her mind registers words more strongly than images. Similarly, you too need to experiment and understand what works best for you and then start adapting that in your daily routine.
4. Drawing: You can indulge in a creative activity by drawing your desires on a piece of paper. Use all the colors you want. This helps to visualize better because you’re using your mind and attention to put your thoughts on a paper and our mind loves anything and everything that is colorful in nature. Not only is the activity de-stressing but also mind triggering. I love scribbling and doodling whenever I find time between my work breaks- its the best and easiest way to detangle the thoughts running in the mind.
Role of Visualization in Manifestation
If you’ve carefully read whatever I’ve written above, it will be easy for you to understand the value visualization holds when it comes to manifestation. Manifestation holds much more meaning when we visualize our wish in our head. It highlights what we want by helping us enter scenarios that re-affirm our faith and confidence.
The more we follow Visualization with our emotions and actions, the more it will reciprocate by attracting abundance into our lives. It is a process that literally has no side-effects to it. You can perform it anywhere- anytime. If you feel you have a very busy schedule, you can visualize for a few minutes in the bus/train/cab while you’re going to work or you can visualize right before you sleep. I’m sure it won’t be a task to fit it somewhere in your daily routine.
The reason why I am encouraging you to follow Visualization as a practice is because it’s such a beautiful and easy way to shift from your current timeline. Once you start visualizing I can confirm that you’ll enjoy and get addicted to it. Try it once. It’s a happy and positive addiction that I really want you to follow.
